Christopher, Washington
Christopher, Washington was a former community, north of Auburn in the Green River Valley of King County in the U.S. state of Washington. It was left bank of the river. At one time, it had a post office and a school.〔''The Green-Duwamish River: Connecting people with a diverse environment''. Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition/TAG. No date, appears to be 2008 or 2009.〕
Christopher/Thomas—An area in North Auburn roughly bordered by the Valley Drive Inn and 227th Street. Both are former farming towns annexed into the city in the 1960s. Currently there are twelve families living on family-owned farms in the Meredith area between Thomas and Christopher.
King County Solid Waste Management is in the scoping process of placing a 12 acre Solid-Waste Transfer Station on this FEMA designated flood plain, a wetland home to waterfowl and raptors, such as Great Blue Heron and Green Heron (all year), Trumpeter Swan and Tundra Swan (winter migration home from the end of October to April), along the Pacific Flyway on the west side of the Green River in the Meredith neighborhood. Numerous raptors including Accipiters, Buteos, and Falcons live in this area and need the trees for perching—they hunt their prey from there and need the trees to sit in to eat their prey.〔Whale, Robert. "King County identifies new top alternative site for transfer, recycle station." Auburn-Reporter, Feb. 7, 2013. www.auburn-reporter.com/news/190105241.html〕〔Rainier Audubon, Washington Swan Stewards and the Washington Department of Fisheries and Wildlife document and keep information about bird populations in this area from their annual Christmas Bird Counts.〕
